Private schools for learning differences in Hillsborough — and how FES-UA pays

102 Hillsborough private schools tell the state which disability categories they serve, and 143 participate in the Unique Abilities Scholarship. Here's how to match a diagnosis to a school and pay for it.

Categories that qualify

Specific learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, speech or language impairment, intellectual disability, other health impairment (including ADHD), emotional/behavioral disability, hearing or vision impairment, developmental delay for ages 3-5, and others in statute.

What Hillsborough schools report most

Specific learning disability (69 schools), speech impairment (63), autism spectrum disorder (59) and language impairment (56) top the list in the October 2026 state directory.

FES-UA or the standard award?

A student holds one or the other. FES-UA is larger on average and can pay therapists and tutors directly, but it requires documentation and a learning plan.

Deadline

New FES-UA applications for 2026-27 close November 15, 2026.
